New Media Equipment for Martin-Luther School
Project Overview:
The Martin-Luther School which is located in Marburg in Hessian, is on a good way to provide the newest learning equipment for their students. With more than 1000 students and up to 110 teachers the school has computer rooms, whiteboards, notebooks, an audio system and a media cupboard with different media. But to provide as much media as needed, the school has to get more resources.
Therefore, the school needs support to improve new media equipment that more teachers have the possibility to work with new media at the same time. Hence, up to 10.000€ are needed to upgrade new media possibilities.
Statement of Problem:
To get the heart of the problem the school has not enough media resources for so many classes. There are just two computer rooms with all told 21 computers. Therefore, one class has the chance to work in these rooms because each class at school as up to 30 students. If two classes want to work with the computers, the students will have to share a computer with partners. If this is possible or not, it depends on the task and the kind of work which the teacher wants to do.
Moreover, 14 notebooks are also available and can be booked together or seperately. So that a maximum of 4 classes could work with computers or notebooks and could use the internet for different matters.
The media cupboard provides digital cameras, loudspeakers, projectors and dvd players. In addition, there are seven class rooms with a tv system which consists of a flatscreen, an audio system and devices for USB sticks and cd´s or dvd´s. But this media equipment is more or less too little if more classes want to use it at the same time.
Two whiteboards cannot be used as much as the teachers would like to, because one of the whiteboards is permanently installed in a biology room and therefore can just used by these classes. To highlight the use of whiteboards: there are many whiteboard softwares for every subject which can be used in class and simplify subject matters. Students and teachers would learn with fun and also get in touch with new media. Therefore, more whiteboards have to be available.
Goal:
To give more than 4 classes the chance to work with new media and to teach them with the newest and very succesful teaching methods, the school has to provide much more media resources. Notebooks, computers, whiteboards, audio- and tv-systems can be used in every subject and are very appropriate for the english class room. To borrow the so called po-wi presenter is much easier than borrowing each media on their own. Additional notebooks can be used in class and if the computers in the library are occupied the stundents can borrow one on their own for free time work. But it is not only the reason that teachers can teach our students more comfortable. In modern times, it is very important that students get in touch with new media and can work and handle them because in almost every type of job or profession the knowledge and skills for new media are demanded. Consequently, the studenst have to be prepared for this at school.

Needed Resources:
- 1 moveable whiteboard for individual use ~ 4000€ each
- 7 notebooks ~ 400€ each (which can be used in class, and students can borrow a notebook to work in library)
- 1 projector ~ 1000€ (to create an additional po-wi presenter with loud speaker and notebook)
- 4 loud speakers ~ 50€ each (compatible with notebooks as an audio system or for dvd´s)
